ECW Mass Transit was a professional wrestling event held by Extreme Championship Wrestling on November 23, 1996, in Revere, Massachusetts. The event is most remembered for an incident involving a wrestler known as "Mass Transit" and former ECW wrestler New Jack.
Mass Transit, whose real name was Eric Kulas, falsely claimed to be a trained wrestler despite being only 17 years old and weighing over 300 pounds. He convinced ECW management to let him participate in a tag team match against The Gangstas (New Jack and Mustafa Saed).
During the match, New Jack became increasingly agitated with Kulas's lack of wrestling skills and allegedly began hitting him with a metal weapon, causing a severe cut on Kulas's forehead that required over 50 stitches. The incident led to New Jack being charged with aggravated assault, though he was later acquitted.
The ECW Mass Transit incident remains one of the most controversial moments in professional wrestling history, highlighting the dangers of inexperienced individuals stepping into the ring without proper training or supervision.
